Alberta is a province of Canada, situated in the west of the country, being one of the two landlocked provinces. It is the first-by-area prairie province, with 255 square miles of land. The capital of Alberta is Edmonton, and the largest city is Calgary, both having over 1 million inhabitants out of 4.3 million people in the province. Alberta has 12 universities, the most popular of which are the University of Alberta, the University of Calgary, Athabasca University, and the University of Lethbridge.
